Now you can decultter your garage by listing items online from your phone.

Before you can have an organized garage, you’ll need to de-clutter it — something that is very challenging to do if you have years of accumulation in your garage. If you’ve been meaning to have a garage sale for years but everything just keeps getting tossed into your garage, you’ll be excited to learn that there are a few innovative ways that you can get that clutter out of your garage and still make more money than you probably would have made with a garage sale.

1. Sell it on Craigslist

Craigslist is a free classified advertisement website that has a very active Chicago page. Take photos of your items, and place the photos, along with brief descriptions, on Craigslist to sell your items. If you have an iPhone, listing becomes even easier, since the Craigslist app allows you to list right from your phone, taking photos as part of the listing process. One of the best ways to have luck selling on Craigslist is to sell clothes and other small items in “lots.” For example, you might place six children’s T-shirts together and sell them for a total of $5. Once you have interest, arrange to meet the party in a public place to sell your goods — never meet anyone at your home and never ship items.

2. Sell on Ebay

Now that you have pictures of all of the items that you want out of your garage, you might as well list them on Ebay as well as Craigslist. Again, having an iPhone makes this process much simpler, as the Ebay app on the iPhone allows you to list and take additional photos right from your phone. If you are in an area with a good Internet connection, using your iPhone might even be faster than using the computer. Remember that selling on Ebay means you’ll need to take care of shipping on your own — be prepared to ship quickly and to avoid a poor seller rating.

3. Sell on Facebook

This might sound strange, but Facebook is blooming as a website for local buying and selling. Look for groups in your town that allow buying and selling of used merchandise. Once you’ve found a group, you can upload your photos and descriptions to this third area. Much like Craigslist, Facebook sales require that you meet your buyers in a public place.

Instead of simply throwing more items into your garage for a garage sale, make money and sell fast with these wired ways to clean out your garage and avoid sitting in your yard for hours presiding over a yard sale. Of course, to aid in the organization process, you’ll want to box the items by category as you list them.
